Judith “Judy” Wallace, age 74, of Farmer City, passed away on Tuesday May 21, 2024 at Springfield Memorial Hospital.
She was born November 18, 1949 in Champaign, Illinois, the daughter of Earl and Anne (Johnson) Rich.
Judy married Mike Wallace on July 31, 1966 at Palmyra, Missouri.
Mourning her passing are a daughter, Megan (husband Bob) Mitchell; grandchildren, Matthew Sroczynski, David (wife Kellsie) Sroczynski, Michael Mitchell, and Kate Mitchell; and brother, Larry Rich.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Mike; two daughters, Pam and Christine; grandson, Jonathan; and her parents, Earl and Anne.
Judy earned her Associates Degree in Nursing in 1995 from Kishwaukee Community College.
She was a retired licensed Registered Nurse (RN) after working for Carle Health System in Mahomet and Tri-County Community Health Center in Dekalb. She also worked for the University of Illinois Extension Service before earning her degree.
Judy was a member of the United Methodist Church and “the Bag Ladies”, who oftentimes quilted and sewed many personal items to donate. She volunteered for the Sunshine Center in Farmer City, IL.
She loved to cook, especially baking pies for family events and her church. Judy was a life-time farmer where she worked on the farm for many years. She also loved to garden. Judy enjoyed reading and spending time with her grandkids.
Visitation for Judy will be held from 10:00 AM until time of memorial services at 11:00 AM on Thursday, May 30, 2024 at the Farmer City United Methodist Church with Pastor Emily Little officiating.
Memorial contributions can be made to St. Judes Children’s Hospital or the Farmer City United Methodist Church.
