Judith “Judy” Marie Nance, age 82, of Athens, passed away on Tuesday, February 21, 2023 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, Illinois.

She was born December 5, 1940 in Springfield, Illinois, the daughter of Charles Edward Moklar and Mary Emogene Olds.

Judith Marie married Charles Edward Nance on July 26, 1958 at the Athens United Methodist Church.

Mourning her passing are her husband, Charles “Charlie”; daughters, Kim (Mike) Moore, Kelley (Steve) Bandy; seven grandchildren, Jason (Kristi) Moore, Katie (Roger) Brown, Ashton (Jennifer) Bandy, Emil (Jesi) Bandy, Grace (Seth) Rice, Naomi Bandy (fiancé Ben Smith), and Ruth Bandy; 14 great-grandchildren, Brady, Brynn, Finley, Maddox Moore; Elijah and Caleb Brown; Ethan, Alister, Charlotte Bandy; Liam, Addi Mae, Talia Bandy; and Molleigh, Hattie Rice; nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Mary “Jean”; father, Charles Moklar; step-father, George Johnson; step-brother, Bill Johnson; step-sister, Marlene Carstens; and two sisters, Nancy Terrell and Pat Beal.

Judy graduated from Athens High School in 1958.

She worked as a homemaker and caregiver.

Judy was a member of the Athens Christian Church.

She enjoyed sewing, baking, and watching her grandchildren’s sporting activities.

Cremation rites will be accorded.

Visitation for Judy will be held on Saturday, February 25, 2023 from 9:30 until time of memorial services at 11:00 AM at the Athens Christian Church with Rev. Ken Gennicks officiating.

Burial of cremains will be held at Elmwood cemetery in Greenview, Illinois at 1:30 PM, following the luncheon at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Athens Christian Church and Historic Marbold Farmstead Association (for the restoration of the kitchen).
