John Thomas “Worm” Bryant, age 62, of Athens, IL, passed away on February 15, 2018.
He was born on August 4, 1955 in Fayetteville, West Virginia, the son of Charles Ralph and Lelia Ann Bryant.
John is survived by his sons, Jason Bryant (Michelle Hazen), Luke Bryant (wife Kelsey); his daughter, Hattie Bryant (Mike Putnam); his grandchildren, Madeline Bryant, Brody Bryant and Elias Hurley; his siblings, Wilma Bryant (husband David Crowley), Karen Fox, and Bruce (wife Shirley) Bryant; sister-in-law, Donna Bryant; and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his mom, Lelia Ann Hildebrand; his dad, Charles Ralph Bryant; his brothers; Charles “Chuck” Bryant and Michael “Cobb” Bryant; and his faithful companion and dog, Kisses.
John retired from the Illinois & Midland Railroad. He was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Sherman, IL. John had a passion for music, the outdoors, and the Chicago Cubs. He took great pride in his children and grandchildren.
A memorial gathering will be held at Mott & Henning Funeral Home in Athens on Friday February 23, 2018 starting at 12:00 followed by a memorial service from 1:30 PM until 2:00 PM with Rev. James Stuenkel officiating. Following the service there will be a Celebration of Life at the Fancy Prairie Fire Department.

Wilma and Karen, Eddie and I are in Fld. right now . We are so shocked and sadden about John’s passing. He was such a good person and always willing to help in anyway. We always enjoyed our visits with him as he passed thur the alley or riding his bike by our house. We will miss him greatly. God be with you as you greive of his passing. We will pray for your comfort and sorrow. We would be there if not for being away at this time.

Wilma: I am so sorry for the passing of your brother. Its so hard losing a loved one. I’ve thought about you over the years and also wondered where you were and how you were doing. Hard finding you this way. Please give my condolences to the rest of your family. May your brother Rest in Heavenly Peace.

My condolences to John’s family. Bruce is my half brother and did not know John, but family is family! Deepest sympathy to all of the family.

I’m sorry to hear this I just found out and was floored by the news. John was a great guy. When he was around you knew you were gonna have a good time.
