Albert Emory Jefferies age 85, passed away on Monday, June 1, 2009 at home surrounded by his family and friends.

He was born July 28, 1923 at home, to Albert and Helena Schlitt Jefferies Sr. He married Helen Hopson on November 30, 1946. She preceded him on May 10, 2006.

He is survived by three sons, Vance (Sheri Ann) of Taylorville, Dale Sr. (Pam) of Cantrall, and Albert (Joyce) of Glenarm; two daughters, Rachel (Dave) Ferguson of Cantrall and Cherie (Frank) Hartley of Springfield; two sisters, Ruth Anderson of Springfield, and Connie Behrman of Sierra Vista, Arizona; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

He graduated from Athens High School in 1941. He attended Springfield Junior College. He owned Jefferies Orchard and farmed all his life. He was a lifetime member of the Sangamon County Farm Bureau and the Illinois Horticultural Society. He loved the outdoors and loved to hunt, fish, and trap.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 4, 2009 from 4 to 7 PM at the Mott & Henning Funeral Home in Athens. Services will be held at the funeral home on Friday, June 5 at 10:30 AM.

Burial will be at Oak Ridge Cemetery

Cherie and Family,

So sorry to hear of your dads passing, but know Cherie, you had said how much he missed your mom. They are together again planting and harvesting in Heaven. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. We know he will be greatly missed, but what a legacy he left in his family.
