Jeanene Rosalie Johnson, age 90, of Greenview, Illinois passed away peacefully in her childhood home while surrounded by loved ones on June 13th, 2024. Her warmth and kindness touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her.
She was born to Russell and Jennie Case in Greenview, Illinois on January 4th, 1934. Jeanene married her grade school sweetheart, Tom Johnson, on October 19th, 1951 at Victorville Air Force Base in California. Jeanene and Tom were married for 72 remarkable years, a testament to their enduring love and commitment to each other.
Those mourning her passing are her beloved husband, Tom, and their children: Debbie Stroemer; Terry Willis (Denny); Tommy Johnson; and Jennifer Reid. She will be missed by her sister, Sharon Evers-Ingram, along with her nieces and nephews. Jeanene will be fondly remembered by her grandchildren: Aaron Deckard (Holly); Devon Bennett (Ty); Nick Stroemer; Megan Nevitt (Matthew); Mali Finn (Andy); Stephanie Creech (Brian); Dustin Willis; Grant Willis (Laci); Chelsea Bass (Kyle); Taylor Reid; and by her 23 great-grandchildren. Her son-in-law, Scott Carlson, and extended family members will hold dear the memories they shared with her.
She was preceded in death by her parents Russell and Jennie Case, brother Richard Case, daughter Deena Carlson and great granddaughter Tilly Jo Deckard.
Jeanene was a graduate of Greenview High School, a bookkeeper for Baugher Implement and a member of the Greenview Christian Church. She was a devoted wife and loving mother, who could always be found in the kitchen preparing delicious meals for her family. Pies, cookies and cakes were always part of her meals, adding a touch of sweetness to every occasion. You could also find Jeanene working side by side with her husband Tom, in their flower beds and bountiful garden.
Her family will gather together for a private celebration of life, where ice cream, a favorite treat of hers, will undoubtedly be on the menu.
