James Keith Leathers, age 76, passed away on Sunday January 10, 2021 at the Mason District Hospital in Havana, Illinois.
James was born on April 30, 1944 in Neleigh, NE, the son of Harold and Colette (Hoffmann) Leathers.
He married Sharon Thomas Smith on June 23, 2002.
Mourning his passing is his wife, Sharon; children, Paul (Lora) Leathers, Mark (Cathy) Leathers, Scott (Shelly) Leathers, Brian (Mattie) Leathers, and Alan Leathers; step-children, Christina (Sean) Pilon, Tina Thomas, Jerauld (Kathy) Smith, and Kathy Tribble; 27 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; brothers, Francis Leathers, Jack (Gayle) Leathers; sister, Vicki (Jim) Anderson; half-brother, Dean (Kristi) Dederman; and several nieces and nephews.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents.
He loved to garden and being outdoors. Jim loved children, babies, and knew no stranger. He thoroughly enjoyed retirement.
Jim was a member of St. Patrick’s Church in Havana.
Jim served for the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War for the 555th Red Horse Engineers.
Visitation for James will be held on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 from 1:00 PM until 2:00PM at St. Peter Catholic Church in Petersburg, Illinois. Private family services will be held afterwards.
Burial will be held at Calvary Cemetery in Petersburg, with military honors provided.

My girls and I are blessed to have had him in our lives. He was a great father in law and an even more wonderful grandfather to my girls. I am thankful everyday my girls knew his smile, his laughter and his tight hugs.
We love him dearly and he will always be missed.

You were a grate Grandfather inlaw. You an Mark brought me closer to God an our Savior. I will always remember you for that and much more.
