Irma Corrine Carter, age 81, of Athens, passed away on Tuesday February 2, 2016 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.
She is survived by her husband, Lester “Les”; daughter, Nancy (Tim) Galligan of Williamsville; son, Bill (Trudi) Carter of Athens; grandchildren, Matt Galligan, Ryan Galligan, Emalie (Austin) Hemberger, Scot Carter, and Tod Carter; and a large extended family.
Corrine is preceded in death by her parents, James and Bernice Dobson Wells; and brother, Harvey Wells.
She was born December 30, 1934 in Springfield, Illinois the daughter of James and Bernice Dobson Wells.
Corrine loved helping out on the family farm. She loved to follow her grandchildren’s sports. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and loved to play cards. Corrine enjoyed traveling and Dairy Queen.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 5, 2016 from 4:00 until 7:00 PM at the Athens Christian Church.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 6, 2016 at 10:00 AM at the Athens Christian Church.
Rev. Ken Gennicks will be officiating.
Burial will be held at Joel Hall Cemetery in Athens.
Memorials can be made to the Athens Christian Church or the American Cancer Society.

My heartfelt condolences to Corrine’s family. She was such lovely woman, many fond thoughts of her associated with family events, in my childhood memories. “To live in hearts we leave behind, is not to die.” May you be comforted by your memories.
