Lois Howard Hewitt, age 79, of Elkhart, died Friday, March 21, 2008 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

– Duane (Kathy) Howard of Livingston, IL – Bill (Karel) Howard of Cantrall – Gina (Bob) Peters of Elkhart
Sixteen Grandchildren Twenty-six Great-grandchildren Two Sisters- Ermel Propes of St. Joseph, MO – Marvel (Glen) Gray of Independence, MO Sister-in-law – Genny Wales of Agency, MO Many Nieces & Nephews
Mrs. Hewitt was born August 3, 1928 in Bolckow, Missouri, the daughter of Lyle and Lucille Schmitt Wales. Lois married Alvin Neal Howard on September 14, 1944 in Troy, Kansas. Neal preceded her in death on February 22, 1974. She later married Cliff Hewitt on June 7, 1977 in Miami, Oklahoma. Cliff preceded her in death in October 1985.
Lois’s main love of her life was her family and friends. She was an avid cook and an avid Harley Motorcycle rider starting in the early 1960’s.
She was a manager of the “Ann Rutledge Restaurant” and of Route 66 Restaurant in Williamsville. Lois was the owner and founder of Double “HH” Bar in Sherman. She later retired from “Talk of the Town Restaurant” in Elkhart.
Visitation will be held Monday from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Mott & Henning Funeral Home in Athens. Funeral services will held also be held there on Tuesday at 10:30 AM.

Burial will be at Walnut Hill Cemetery near Williamsville
In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Shriner’s Children Hospital.
