Herschel "Glen" Clark

ATHENS

Herschel “Glen” Clark, age 95, of Athens, Illinois, passed away on Thursday, August 22, 2024 at Sunny Acres Nursing Home in Petersburg.  

Glen was born on July 24, 1929 in Newansville, IL, the son of Herschel A. and Blanch (Dearing) Clark.

He married Roberta Walker on February 4, 1951 at the Tallula Baptist Church.

Mourning his passing are his wife Roberta; son, Gary (Sharon) Clark; grandchildren, Jennifer (Michael) Armitage and Gregory Wayne (Carissa McQuire) Clark; great-grandchildren, Carley Armitage, Will Armitage, Ella Armitage, and Grayson Wayne Clark; brother, Rich (Sharon) Clark; and several nieces and nephews. 

He is preceded in death by his parents; Herschel and Blanch; brothers, Jackie Cameron (Joanne) Clark, and Donnie (Shirley) Clark; and sister, Sylvia Palmer.

Glen graduated from Virginia High School. 

After graduation, he worked for Ideal Industries for many years and later Capital Woodworks in Springfield which later became, Kwik Wall Company, also for over 70 years. 

He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Petersburg. 

Glen hunted and fished throughout his life. He enjoyed watching NASCAR and Stockcar races. 

Visitation for Glen will be held on Wednesday, August 28, 2024 from 5:00 until 7:00 PM with Masonic services at 6:45 PM at Mott & Henning Funeral Home in Athens. An additional visitation will be held on Thursday, August 29, 2024 from 9:00 until time of funeral services at 10:00 AM at the Athens Christian Church in Athens. Burial will be at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Springfield immediately after the services.

Memorial contributions be made to charity of choice.
