Becky Henrikson, age 78, of Athens, passed away on Sunday, August 26, 2018, at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.
She is survived by her husband, Terry; three sons, Stephen M. of Warrenville, IL, Mark A. (Imelda) of Highwood, IL, and Paul (Melissa) of Bloomington, IL; and four grandchildren, Nathaniel, Alyssa, Anna, and Tyler Henrikson.
She is preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Sandra Spindel; and a brother, Will Slagle.
Becky was born August 16, 1940 in Springfield, Illinois, the daughter of Wilson and Nina McConnell Slagle.
She married Terry Henrikson on August 13, 1960 at the Rochester Christian Church.
Becky was a medical transcriptionist for ten years at SIU School of Medicine and eight years St. John’s Hospital. She also taught piano privately in homes and was a Athens Christian Church organist and pianist. Becky loved camping with her family and enjoyed traveling with her husband in their Recreational Vehicle.
She graduated from Rochester High School in 1958 and later attended Lincoln Land Community College in Springfield.
A memorial gathering will be held on Thursday, August 30, 2018 from 9:00 until time of the memorial service at 11:00 AM at the Athens Christian Church. Rev. Ken Gennicks will be officiating.
Burial of cremains will be held at Camp Butler National Cemetery at a later date.
Memorials can be made to the Athens Christian Church Building Fund or Pinehaven Christian Children’s Ranch in Montana.

Thoughts and prayers are with you Terry, and your family. We were very sadden to hear of the loss of Becky. We have truly enjoyed having her as our neighbor for the last 10 years. She was always smiling and would wave anytime you saw her. She was a very caring person and we will miss her dearly.
