Harry “Orson” Stuart Wells Jr., age 81, passed away on Saturday, February 5, 2011 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield. He is survived by his wife, Virginia of Athens, son, Gary (Nancy) Wells of Springfield, daughters Joyce Wells of Springfield and Karen (Kevin) Fawns of Athens. Grandchildren Aaron (Faye) Wells of Skokie, Justin Wells of Chicago, and Ashley Fawns of Athens; brothers Kenneth Wells of Athens, Darrell Wells of Springfield, and Larry Wells of Athens; a sister Marilyn Sabo of Sherman and several nieces and nephews and cousins. Mr. Wells was born June 10, 1929 in Athens, IL the son of Harry Stuart Sr. and Mildred Lott Wells. He graduated from Athens High School in 1947. He married Virginia Marie White on July 23, 1950 in Springfield, recently celebrating 60 years of marriage. Harry had worked and retired from Allis Chalmers/Fiat-Allis in Springfield after 38 years of service. He was a member of Local 1027 United Auto Workers Union and held various local union offices including president. He was also a member of the Local 1027 UAW Retirees Club. Harry was a 60 year plus member of the VanMeter Masonic Lodge #762 in Athens. He was also a member of the Athens Christian Church. Harry liked fishing, camping, gardening, dancing and was an avid outdoors man. And he always enjoyed spending time with his family. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 8, 2011 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Mott & Henning Funeral Home in Athens with Masonic services being held at 6:30 PM. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, February 9, 2011 at the funeral home. Rev. Shane Baker will be officiating. Burial will be held at Joel Hall Cemetery. Memorials can be made to American Heart Association or Senior Services of Central Illinois, 701 West Monroe, Springfield, IL 62702.

My sincere condolences go out to the entire Wells family on the death of they father and grandfather. I know he will be dearly missed.
