Harry Cummings

Harry A. Cummings, age 92, of Chatham, passed away on Saturday, April 7, 2018 at Villas of Holly Brook in Chatham.

He was born on November 12, 1925 in Athens, IL the son of Calvin and Helen (Shaw) Cummings.

He is survived by a son, Ronald (Suzanne) Cummings, three grandchildren; Christy (David) Cummings, Curt (Sabrina) Cummings and Lindsay (Rebecca); step-grandson, Matt (Anna) Sanders; great grandchildren, Wyatt Cook, Sierra, Kiersten, Brooke, Malik, and Bryson Cummings; step great granddaughter, Sarah Sanders, as well as several nieces, nephews and friends.

He is preceded in death by his wife Evelyn Elizabeth in 2017; both parents; sister, Janie Kennedy and brother-in-law, Ralph Kennedy.

He served as a tail gunner on the B-24 from 1944-1945 in WWII.

Harry also worked as a mechanic for the GM&O Railroad for about 30 years.

Visitation for Harry will be held on Saturday, April 14, 2018 from 1-2 PM at Mott & Henning Funeral Home in Athens, IL. Services will immediately follow at 2 PM at the funeral home.

Burial will be held at Auburn Cemetery.

Rev. Ryan Baker will be officiating.

Memorials can be given to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
