Greg Chastain, age 54, of Springfield, passed away on Saturday February 3, 2018 at Heritage Health in Springfield.

He was born on January 13, 1964 in Springfield, Illinois, the son of Bennie Chastain and Sharon Chastain Thady.

Greg married Kathy Hausaman on September 17, 1988 in Sherman, Illinois.

Greg is survived by his wife Kathy, his children; Blake and Morgan Chastain, mother; Sharon (husband Danny) Chastain Thady, sister; Dawn (husband Jerry) Oltmanns; two nieces, Ashton Oltmanns and Erika Oltmanns Sherertz; and brother-in-law, David (wife Laura) Hausaman.

He is preceded in death by his father, Bennie Chastain in 2004.

He graduated from Belmont University in Nashville, TN with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. Greg later worked for Brinks for 10 years as an Armored Car Driver.

He was a member of the Westside Christian Church in Springfield. Greg was also a drummer for several bands in the area.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 until 7:00 PM on Monday, February 5, 2018 at Mott & Henning Funeral Home in Athens. An additional visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 6, 2018 from 10:00 until time of funeral services at 11:00 AM at the funeral home.

Burial will be held at Walnut Hill Cemetery near Williamsville.

Memorials can be given to Huntington’s Disease Society of America.

    I was so shocked and sad to hear about Greg`s passing!

    I have so many great memories of Greg going all the way back to his high school years. He was really a kind soul always ready with a smile. I always had the feeling that he was happy, especially when he was beating me at Pool! He will be missed that is for sure.
