Frances Ann Weidhuner, age 87, of Sherman, formerly of Fancy Prairie area, passed away on Thursday, February 3, 2022 at Villa Healthcare East in Sherman.                                                .

Mrs. Weidhuner was born July 9, 1934 near Fancy Prairie, IL, the daughter of Matthew and Jessie Kern Neavill.

She married William Weidhuner on December 19, 1956, at the Irish Grove Presbyterian Church by Rev. C. Ward Simpson.  William preceded her in death in 2006.

Mourning her passing are a daughter, Lisa K. (Randy Hansen) Sandidge; grandchildren, Jessie (Christopher) Kutz, Clayton (Daniela) Sandidge, and Jamie (Ty) Shaffer; great-grandchildren, Casimir Strumpher-Kutz, Ava Kutz, Jonas Kutz, Kade Shaffer, Everett Shaffer, and Marcello Sandidge; sisters, Betty Howard and Mary Jane Murphy; aunt and uncle, Joe (JoAnne) Kern; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mrs. Weidhuner is also preceded in death a brother, Lee Neavill and sister, Sue Bice.

She graduated from Athens High School in 1952.

Mrs. Weidhuner worked for the State of Illinois Department of Human Services and also was a homemaker.

She was baptized at the Fancy Prairie Presbyterian Church and was a member of the Third Presbyterian Church in Springfield.

Mrs. Weidhuner was known for being outgoing, having numerous friends, who she loved to visit with often.  She especially loved spending time with her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Mrs. Weidhuner loved country living where she watched the farm equipment out in the fields.  She loved holidays with family, especially Christmas.

Visitation for Frances will be held on Wednesday, February 9, 2022 from 4:00 until 7:00 PM at Mott & Henning Funeral Home in Athens.  An additional visitation will be on Thursday, February 10, 2022 from 10:00 until time of funeral services at 11:00 AM also at the funeral home with Rev. Shane Baker officiating.

Burial will be held at Joel Hall Cemetery in Athens.

Memorials can be made to the Fancy Prairie Fire Department or Menard County Rescue Squad.
