Florence Ilsley, age 89 of Athens, passed away on November 5, 2014 at St. John’s Hospice in Springfield.

She is survived by her husband Robert, two daughters, Shirley Green,Ellen (John) Perry; grandchildren Shannon Green, Allison Green, Megan Ilsley, Jacqueline Morrow, and Carissa (Tim) Cundiff; four great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her son Eric in 2007, a brother Edward Armstrong, and son-in-law Gordon Morrow. Florence was born September 12, 1925 in Newmansville, the daughter of Edward Sr. and Marie (VanNatten) Armstrong.

She married Robert Ilsley June 5, 1955 in Springfield, IL.

Florence was Honorary Regent of the Pierre Menard Chapter and past District V Director of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Organizing President of Kickapoo Chapter Colonial Dames XVII Century, and a member of the Colonial Daughters of the Seventeenth Century and the Athens United Methodist Church.

Visitation will be from 9-11 AM on Friday, November 7, 2014 with funeral services to follow at 11 AM at Mott & Henning Funeral Home in Athens, IL.

Rev. Paulette Cott will be officiating.

Burial will be held at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Springfield, IL.

Memorials can be made to the Daughters of the Revolution.

  4. Dear Family, I was so sorry to see & hear of Florence passing. I considered her a friend and very nice person. She was responsible for my interest in Colonial Daughters and of course I saw her at DAR meetings from time to time. I have thought of her often and she will be missed by many. My condolences sre for her love ones.

    I’m so sorry to hear of Florence’s death. She, along with Evelyn, took care of my sister Elizabeth and I when we were little children. It was good that Elizabeth had a chance to visit with Florence before she went into hospice. I’m sorry we lived so far away…
