Evelyn was a wonderful lady, loved by all of our family. I never heard her speak an unkind word of anyone or anything and she always carried a smile and offered a warm greeting. Evelyn perhaps is the last resident and vestige of “Old Cantrall” that many of us youngsters (who are now in our 70’s and 80′) refer when we talk about our childhood. St. Francis of Assisi, Elmon’s orchard, Mike’s pond, the C&IM, old elevator, Curry’s, Edie at the post office, Woods’ Tavern, Wimpy’s Garage, kick the can and chalk the corner are all treasured memories for me and others. Evelyn helped some of us learn how to sing the Latin phrases for church; and I will never forget the one that Evelyn made so simple by saying “It sounds like ‘in egg shells see’.” One of the last time I visited her, one of her youngest daughters was there. Evelyn told her this is your cousin: “your grandfather and his…oh forget about that, I am not sure you would understand.” My thoughts and prayers will certainly include Evelyn and her family. Love to each of you. Andy Wasilewski
