Aneta Elizabeth Ethell passed over on Sunday, June 3, 2012.
Aneta had been one of the many happy residents of Sunny Acres Home in Petersburg for the last 8 years where she enjoyed many hours of playing bingo, dancing, singing and just smiling and visiting with all her fellow residents. Prior to that, Aneta had lived in central Illinois her entire life previously living in Athens, Springfield and Elkhart.
She was born on July 27, 1922 in Rockbridge, Illinois, where she went to school and met the love of her life Eldon “Cap” Ethell.
Aneta was engaged in a variety of activities during her life but her favorite times where spent with her grandchildren, great grandchildren and gardening. Aneta liked nothing better than to spend a Sunday with all her family gathered around at home having the grandkids run around and playing cards with her kids.
During her many careers Aneta farmed, raised dogs, ran a bowling alley, worked for the State of Illinois, ran a tavern, sold real estate, and spent countless hours taking care of her grandchildren.
Aneta was preceded in death by her husband, Eldon; a son, Danny (Beckie) Ethell; sisters, Ruth and Jo; brothers, Silas, Jim, and Kelton; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Aneta is survived by daughters, Janice (Ed) Nichols of Athens, Lana (Kevin) Forden of Sherman, and Peggy Mounce of Springfield; a daughter-in-law, Beckie Ethell of Chatham; grandchildren, Nick (Rhonda) Ethell of Athens, Michelle (Scott) Hudspeth of Athens, Terry Stout of Springfield, Brandy (Steven) Guisgond of Meridan, Mississippi, Jon Forden of Springfield, Vicki (Kirk) Brauer of O’Fallon, Missouri, Yvonne (Matt) Pyle of Springfield, Rachel Mounce of Springfield, Jamie (Toni) Trumpy of Sawyerville, DJ (Michelle) Trumpy of Chatham, and Justin Trumpy of Edwardsville; great-grandchildren, Brittany Stout of Springfield, Chance Guisgond of Meridan, Mississippi, Tyler and Trent Ethell of Athens, Taylor Forden of Springfield, Lincoln and Owen Brauer of O’Fallon, Missouri, Ava, Aubrey, and Charlie Pyle of Springfield, Hannah and Luke Trumpy of Sawyerville, Alyson and Brandon Trumpy and Cherokee McCue of Chatham, and Lauren Trumpy of Edwardsville; brothers-in-law, Bill (Lola) Ethell and Jack (Betty) Ethell of Athens; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 9:30 until 11:30 AM on Wednesday, June 6, 2012 at Mott & Henning Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at Joel Hall Cemetery in Athens, immediately following the visitation.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Lana, So sorry for the loss of your Mother. I do remember her bubbly personality and always thought that was such a wonderful gift. Your memories will sustain you during this difficult time. God Bless all of your family.

janice – i’m sorry to hear of the passing of your mother. i haven’t seen her for many years. i’m glad that you got to share her life for that many years. you have my sympathy. leroy
