Matt Dutz, age 48, of Athens, passed away on Saturday, May 18, 2013.
He is survived by his wife, Robin; daughters, Jennifer (husband Nick) Ketchum, Brittany Leach, RaeAnne Dutz, and Meaghan Dutz; a brother, Michael (wife Terri) Dutz, Jr.; sisters, Michelle Oest and Mandy Frost; father, Michael C. Dutz, Sr.; grandchildren, Gavin and Kyson Ketchum; grandfather, Dale Smith; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
Preceded in death by his mother, Barbara Dutz-Noe; a brother, Mitchell Dutz; a grandmother, Jacqueline Smith; an aunt, Rhea Wrestler; two uncles, Allen “Ponch” Wrestler and Rick Smith. Matt was born January 14, 1965 in San Diego, CA, the son of Michael and Barbara Dutz.
He graduated from Mason City High School in 1983. He worked for AT&T from March 1994 until July 2012.
Matt served for the U.S. Navy from 1983 until 1987.
He enjoyed riding motorcycles, camping and NASCAR racing.
Memorial contributions can be made to the “Dutz Family Memorial Fund” at Athens State Bank. Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

I new Matt from our days at Franlin Life. Talked to him often since as I saw him all the time in and around the state complex. Wondered several time why I had not seen him lately. He will be missed.

I am SO sorry to hear about Matt’s passing. I have known Matt for many, many years – lived across the street from my Grandmother when we were kids. He will be greatly missed.

To the Dutz Family – I was saddened to learn of Matt’s passing. I had the pleasure of interacting with him at the State Capitol on many occasions. He was a true professional and always had a smile for those he worked with. Prayers are with you.

Wow- so so sad. Can’t believe this.
When I talked to him he always had a smile. I didn’t realize he was married but knew about his “girls” hope you all are ok. Sorry to see this happen.

I went to school with Matt and I just can’t believe he is no longer with us. My deepest sympathy to Matt’s family
