Wilbur M. Dennison, age 93, of Cantrall, died January 14, 2012 at Villa East in Sherman, IL.
Survived by: Daughter Kathy (Bill) Swaar of Mason City, IL. Daughter-in-law Lois Dennison of Springfield; Two brothers: Leonard Dennison of Williamsville and Norman Dennison of Springfield & one sister; Evelyn Freeman of Springfield
Grandchildren: Matthew (Deborah) Swaar of Maryland, Lisa (Chuck) Steffens of Mason City Amy (Terrell) Gorens of Springfield and Sam and Andrea Dennison.
Great-Grandchildren: Sean Holden, Nick, Hannah & Graham Fougerousse, Clark Swaar, Molly Steffens, Zeik & Serena Dennison Lexia Swope, Chantel Gorens, Jasmine & Billie Jo Brunner, Damien Dennison many neices, nephews, and cousins.
Mr. Dennison was born Sept 3, 1918, in San Jose, IL, the son of Virgil Taylor and Glenna Mae Parsons Dennison. His first wife, Iva Harris, preceded him in death in 1953. Their son, Charles Leon Dennison, preceded him in death on Oct. 1, 2000.
He married Vera Mae Oliver on July 11, 1954, and she preceded him in death on March 11, 1997. He was also preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Earl, Jim, and Bob Dennison, and four sisters, Martha Wheatley, Burl Dennis, Janet Antonnaci and Lydia Dambacher.
Mr. Dennison was a veteran of the US Army, serving from 1942 – 1946. He became a Sgt in Co B of the 772nd Battalion of the Military Police. All of his service was stateside, and included guarding the Boeing Aircraft factory in Seattle, WA, and transporting prisoners of war to various military bases across the US.
Mr. Dennison managed the West Foods grocery warehouse in Petersburg, IL until its closing, and retired from Eaton-Cutler Hammer in Lincoln, IL in 1983, where he was a proud member of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers. He loved bowling, fishing, playing cards with his friends, and was a die-hard Cubs fan. Most of all, he loved and enjoyed his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at Mott & Henning Funeral Home from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday January 18, 2012 at Cantrall United Methodist Church in Cantrall, IL at 11:00 AM.

Sorry to hear of the passing of Wilbur. Sorry my family & i never had the honor of knowing Wilbur. Cheerish all the memories you have of him. My family and I are deeply sorry for your loss. Will continue to keep your family in our thoughts and continued prayers.
