Charles “Bud” Deckard, age 82, of Greenview, passed away on Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at Sunny Acres Nursing Home in Petersburg.
He is survived by a son, Robert Charles Deckard of Springfield; two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and five sisters, Virginia Beauchamp of Petersburg, Ruth Ann Melton of Springfield, Francis Moore of Springfield, Marian (Donald) Case of Greenview, and Janet O’Brien of Greenview.
He is preceded in death by his parents; a great-granddaughter, Tilly; a brother, Kenneth “Pete” Deckard; and a sister, Leona Hughes.
Bud was born on August 13, 1929 in Athens, Illinois the son of Charles and Ona Marie Prince Deckard.
He was a lifetime member of the Greenview AMVETS and was a volunteer firefighter for Greenview. He served for the United States Army in Korea.
Bud loved fishing, camping, NASCAR racing, and drinking a Bud Light.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday at 11:00 AM at Elmwood Cemetery in Greenview. Per Bud’s request please wear casual attire.
Rev. Don Winter will be officiating.
Memorials contributions can be made to the Greenview Fire Department and Sunny Acres Nursing Home.

My sympathies to Bud’s family. I met Bud when I became County Treasurer in 1994 and enjoyed working with him every day. He was a happy fellow and enjoyed a good tease. He will be remembered by anyone who had the privilege to know him.
