Corinne “June” Minikin, age  89, of Athens, passed away on Wednesday, January 24, 2024.

June was born on February 2, 1934 in Springfield, Illinois the daughter of Carl and Alma Lucille White Yoakum.

Mourning her passing are children, Kim (husband Paul Gaither) Maisenbacher, Cynthia (husband Pete) Correll, Mary Minikin, and step-daughter, Pam (husband Bill) Minikin-White; grandchildren, Alan (wife Karli) Ashenfelter, Brooke  (husband Traeger) Balster-Penicook, Alexandra Gaither, and Nick Correll; brother, Richard “Bud” (wife Carol) Yoakum; great-grandchildren, Alan III “Ash” and Jack; and several beloved nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Robert “Bob” Yoakum,

June graduated from Athens High School in 1952 and was employed by the State of Illinois for 33 years, the City of Athens for over four years, and was a cashier at Bert’s Service for 13 years.

She was a member of the Athens Christian Church.

June was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and an accomplished gardener.

Visitation for June will be held on Sunday, February 25, 2024 from 4:00 until 7:00 PM at Mott & Henning Funeral Home in Athens.  Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 26, 2024 at 10:00 AM also at the funeral home.  Rev. Ken Gennicks will be officiating.

Burial will be held Joel Hall Cemetery in Athens, Illinois immediately after the services.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Athens Christian Church or the Athens Volunteer Fire Department.

  1. I have so many wonderful memories of Junie through the years. My deepest condolences to the entire family. She was truly a treasure that will be deeply missed. I will be keeping you all in my thoughts and prayers as you navigate this difficult time. I love you all deeply and am here should you need anything at all.
