Margaret Cooke

Margaret (Peg) Cooke, age 95, of Springfield died July 24, 2015 at St. Joseph’s Home in Springfield, IL.

She is survived by a brother, William Engel of Athens and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Cooke was born March 27, 1920 in Athens, IL, the daughter of Edward and Anna Seipel Engel.

Mrs. Cooke married Frank H. Cooke December 22, 1962 at Grace Lutheran Church, River Forest, IL.

She is preceded in death by her husband, two sisters, Helena Huffman and Ann Upham, and a brother Edward (Bird) Engel.

She was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Springfield, IL.

Margaret was employed as a secretary at National Fire Insurance Co. She also enjoyed being a homemaker.

Visitation will be held from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Mott & Henning Funeral Home in Athens on Monday July 27, 2015 with funeral services following at 1:00 PM.

Officiating will be Dr. Wayne P. Hoffman and Pastor Joshua Traxel.

Memorials can be made to St. Josephs Home of Springfield.

Burial will be at Joel Hall Cemetery in Athens.
