I thoroughly enjoyed working with Caryl at SIU School of Medicine. Caryl had an easy spirit and would do anything to help accomplish a task. Her work ethic was second to none and her smile always contagious! She will be forever missed. My deepest sympathy to the entire family.

I got the pleasure of working with Caryl at MCC the last 8½ years. It was always wonderful to have her come in after her full day at SIU as happy as can be to see the kiddos. She was an amazing early childhood teacher and person. She will for sure be missed. Praying for the whole family.

So very sad when I heard of Caryl’s passing. I retired from SIU SOM’s Comptroller’s Office and had the opportunity to work with Caryl and become her friend. I will miss our occasional emails and seeing her smiling face sitting behind her “cutely decorated” desk when I visit. Rest in Peace, Caryl. I know that you and Angie are celebrating now.

Caryl was an amazing person! She was the day care provider for my now 29 year old daughter. She became like a member of our family.
My thoughts and prayers are with all of her family.

My sympathy to Caryl’s family. I knew Caryl from working at SIU. Whether I saw Caryl at work, the grocery store, or at a restaurant she was always smiling, always happy, always had something to say. May she rest in peace, & God bless her heart.

Both of my kids had Miss Caryl as a teacher at MMC Daycare. Since she came in later, and they stayed later, they both got to spend time with her toward the end of the day. Miss Caryl was always friendly and pleasant. Both of my children really liked her. I ran into Caryl years after my kids had left the daycare (one is 22, the other 19) and she still remembered me and them, just as I remembered her. She will be sadly missed. Praying for the family.

Words cannot describe how I felt when I heard of Caryl’s passing. I worked closely with Caryl at SIU SOM and we became close – would walk (well, take the elevator) down to get ice, we would laugh, cry, hug, and talk to each other about everything and anything in the world. She was a great friend who took the time to listen and never had a bad word to say. She was very proud of her family! As well, I am proud to have called her a friend and I will miss her dearly.
