Marie Carr, age 71, of Petersburg, formerly of Chicago died Sunday August 17, 2008 at St. John’s Hospice, in Springfield.

Four Grandchildren: Nicole Lynn Carr of Virginia Joshua Edward Carr of Greenview Gwendalyn & Savannah of Springfield

Mrs. Carr was born February 15, 1937 in Chicago, IL the daughter of John and Violet Rome Henry.

She is preceded in death by her sister Evelyn, Brother Thomas, and two Brother-in-laws Earl and Ed.

Mrs. Carr volunteered at the Daily Bread in Tallula and is the Vice-president of the Nutritional Board. She was a member of the Athens Christian Church and of the Tallula Seniors.

Visitation will be held Friday, August 23 at Mott and Henning Funeral Home from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

Funeral services will be held at Mott & Henning Funeral Home, on Saturday at 10:30 AM. With a visitation from 9:30 till time of service.

Rev. Ken Gennicks officiating.

Burial at Joel Hall Cemetery in Athens.

Memorials can be made to the Athens Christian Church or Tallula Senior Center.
