Carl G. Selinger

Carl G. Selinger, age 77, passed away on Monday, December 16, 2024 at his residence.

 He was born December 23, 1946 in Springfield, Illinois the son of Robert and Agnes (Kolesar) Selinger.

 Carl married Mary Yocum on February 12, 1975.

 Mourning his passing are his wife, Mary; son, Robert (Alicia) Selinger; two grandsons, Beckett & Grayson; sister, Janet (Kevin) Cooper; brothers-in-laws, Chuck Yocum, Jon Yocum, and Clyde Yocum; sister-in-law, Penny Falzone, and many great friends.

 He is preceded in death by a daughter, Kelly Selinger; and brother-in-law, Terry Yocum.

 Carl graduated from Griffin High School in Springfield, IL. 

 He served for the U.S. Navy associated with the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam Conflict.

 Carl was an iron worker for over 30 years. He retired from iron working several years ago, enjoying his retirement with many friends. 

 Carl always kept busy and was such a hard worker throughout his life. 

 Being from Polish descent and his father being from Germany, he loved his beer. Carl was so proud of his mother during his life. She was such a prominent person that he admired.

 He had a great sense of humor, telling many jokes and drinking beer.

 Visitation for Carl will be held on Thursday, December 26, 2024 from 9:30 AM until time of funeral services at 10:30 AM at Mott & Henning Funeral Home in Athens. Burial will be held at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield at 12:00 PM with military honors.
