Charles Bryant, age 57, of Athens, passed away on Friday, March 7, 2014 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.
He is survived by his wife, Janice; a son, Shane; mother, Patricia Buckley of Athens; three brothers, Clifford “Pete” (wife Kitsy) Bryant of Springfield, John (wife Sue) Bryant of Athens, Jimmy (companion Roxanne) Bryant of Springfield; three sisters, Patricia (husband Kenneth) Yeates of Athens, Karen Reagon of Springfield, Kelly (husband Steve) Berndt of Athens; two grandchildren, Travis and Lilly; and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by a son, Michael on March 17, 1997; his father Clifford Bryant, Sr. on August 5, 1995.
He was born on January 10, 1957 in Springfield, Illinois the son of Clifford and Patricia (Buckley) Bryant.
Charles enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing, boating, and mushroom hunting.
He was a truck driver for several years before being employed at the Village Market in Athens.
He was known for always helping others and his complete generosity towards others was well known throughout the community. His last gift was being an organ donor for many people in need.
Visitation will be held at Mott & Henning Funeral Home from 4:00 until 7:00 PM on Sunday, March 9, 2014.
Funeral services will be held at the funeral home at 1:30 PM Monday, March 10, 2014.
Rev. Ken Gennicks will be officiating.
Burial will be held at Joel Hall Cemetery.
Family is being served by Mott & Henning Funeral Home, in Athens, IL.

Charles was one of the first people we met when we moved to Athens. He was never without a smile, wave, or friendly word. The neighborhood will not be the same without him. He will be sorely missed.
