Betty Manley, age 87, of Sherman, passed away on Saturday, April 8, 2017 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.  She was born, the youngest of six children, to Grover Cox and Lulu Taylor Cox on September 12, 1929 in Springfield.  Betty married Bill Manley in June 1949 in New Berlin, he died in 2003.  She was a graduate of New Berlin Township High School.

She was a homemaker, managed a laundromat in Sherman, and had also worked at JC Penney.

Betty attended Sherman United Methodist Church.  She and her husband were involved in square dancing in Springfield for many years.  She was a member of the Springfield Squares, the Swinging Squares and various other square and round dance clubs.

She spent several years crocheting afghans for family and friends.

She is survived by three sons, Bob (Raynette) Manley of Cantrall, Rick (Doris) Manley of Sherman and John (Alisa) Manley of Springfield; eight grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.  Betty was preceded in death by a great grandson; three brothers; and two sisters.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday April 12, 2017 from 5:00 until 7:00 PM at Mott & Henning Funeral Home in Athens.  An additional visitation will be held on Thursday from 10:00 until time of funeral services at 11:00 AM at the funeral home.

Burial will be held at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield.

Rev. Craig Sweet will be officiating.

Memorials can be made to the Sherman United Methodist Church.
