Betty Edwards Cravens, age 86, of Athens, passed away on Sunday January 9, 2022 at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.
Betty was born August 9, 1935 in Tallula, Illinois, the daughter of Duke and Rose (Peterson) Irwin.
She married Norman Edwards on June 3, 1953 and he preceded her in death in 1991. Betty later married Danny Cravens on December 19, 1998 and he also preceded her in death in 2005.
Mourning her passing are a daughter, Linda (Steve) Bennett; a son, Steve (Dena) Edwards; daughter-in-law, Suzie Edwards; seven grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Also preceding her in death is a son, Terry Edwards in 2008.
Betty worked for the State of Illinois for most of her life, retiring from Illinois EPA in 2008.
Private services will be held.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Athens Christian Church.

Linda and Steve, Steve and Dena, Suzie and family,
We are so saddened by the loss of Aunt Betty! May she rest in heaven with all of her loved ones that have already passed. I know that Betty will be watching over all of you as a guardian Angel. I am so sorry to Betty’s family..i have many great memories of Betty working for my parents at the meat plant when i was a kid..she and Norm would come to the VFW and hear the band play..great memories of much better times..you are all in my prayers she will never be forgotten
