Cora L. Bell, age 91, of Sherman, formerly of Cantrall, IL passed away on October 16, 2010 at Memorial Medical Center.

Survived by sons, Fred (Marilyn) Bell of Cantrall, IL & Jerry (Cathy) Bell of Alabama & a daughter Mary (Larry) Wilkens of Springfield, IL. Several Grandchildren, Great-Grandchildren and Great-great Grandchildren. Two sister’s Gladys Bell and Kathryn Bell. Several Nieces & Nephews

Mrs. Bell was born March 6, 1919 in Beason, IL the daughter of Harve and Hannah Paige Lowery. She is preceded in death by her husband John Allen Bell in 1984, her son Paul “Tony” Bell in 1993, a son Richard Bell in 1938, a grandson Brian Bell in 2007 and a Great grandson Brendan Long in 2006. Cora married John in 1936 in Lincoln, IL at the court house. She attended Beason High School.

She was a member of Cantrall Methodist Church for 50 years and was a volunteer at St. John’s Hospital.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday at Mott & Henning Funeral Home in Athens from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM. Funeral services will be held at Cantrall United Methodist Church on Wednesday October 20 at 10:00 AM.

Rev. Bob Ervin will be officiating. Burial will be held at Fancy Creek Cemetery. Memorials can be made to Cantrall United Methodist Church or American Cancer Society.

  2. So sorry to hear that great aunt Corky has passed away. We had been corresponding since Grandma Arnold passed away. She was also there for me when my mother-Joyce (Arnold) Daniels passed away. I will miss her, her wisdom and faith that she expressed to me. Will keep you all in our prayers during this difficult time. God Bless you all!

  4. You are all in our thoughts and prayers. Bill says Aunt Corky was a wonderful “neat” lady. Wish we had kept in touch. May her memories sustain you at this sad time and hearten you as time goes on.
