Barnett, Mary L.

Mary L. Barnett, age 91, of Cantrall, passed away on Friday April 4, 2014 at St. John’s Hospice in Springfield.

She is survived by a daughter, Waneta McKemie of Cantrall; a son, Terry (wife Sharon) Barnett of Athens; four grandchildren, Stephanie and Jason McKemie, Dawn (husband Greg) Muller, and Stacey Barnett; three great-grandchildren, Grant, Courtney, and Haley Muller; and one sister, Rose Bubert.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Fred, in 2009; four brothers, Paul, Bill, Dick, and Johnny.

She was born on November 21, 1922 in rural Mason County, the daughter of John and Grace Doyle.

Mary married Fred Barnett on December 13, 1940.

She was an active member of the Sangamon County Homemakers Extension for many years.

Mary loved dancing with her husband. She also enjoyed gardening, bowling, cooking, golfing, and especially spending time with her family.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 8, 2014 from 10:00 until time of funeral service at 11:00 AM at Mott & Henning Funeral Home in Athens.

Rev. Ken Gennicks will be officiating.

Burial will be held at Mason City Cemetery.

Memorials can be made to the Sherman Fire Department or the Inner City Mission of Springfield.
