Alex Clemens, age 36, of Athens, passed away on Wednesday, January 26, 2022 at Memorial Medical Center.
He was born in Springfield, Illinois on December 10, 1985 the son of Phil and Kathy (Blakley) Clemens. He is preceded in death by his father in 2018.
Alex married Katie Teegarden on October 26, 2019 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Athens.
Mourning his passing are his wife, Katie; mother, Kathy Clemens; sister, Mary Ellen (Nicholas) Ramey; two nephews, Samuel and Henry Ramey; other nieces and nephews, Addison, Eli, Henry, and Mac; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Alex graduated from Athens High School in 2004. He later earned an Associate’s degree in 2012 from Lincoln Land Community College.
He worked for Micro-Medical in Chatham as a technology assembler for nearly 10 years.
Alex was a handyman, which included being an auto mechanic and woodworking.
He enjoyed reading and researching to figure things out for projects and endeavors
Alex especially loved spending time with his family. He was a huge pet lover, and loved Sparky, our beloved pet.
Alex enjoyed the outdoors, camping, and video gaming, and going to the gym.
Visition for Alex will be held on Wednesday, February 2, 2022 from 10:00 AM until time of funeral mass at 11:00 AM at Holy Family Church in Athens, with Rev. Maurice Yonta will be officiating.
Burial of cremains will be held at Joel Hall Cemetery in Athens immediately after the mass.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be given to American Cancer Society and Animal Protective League.

Alex, I will always remember those moments around the water hole. I will not forget your mid morning snack of sardines at the office. You will not be forgotten and you can demonstrate to God how to lift weights.

I will truly miss seeing Alex working in his garage, which he really loved doing. He was such a great neighbor. My sympathies to the family. R.I.P. Alex 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

Alex was a kind soul. I am honored to call him my friend. We had many insightful conversations over cups of green tea at Micromedical. He will be missed.
