Albert Knous of Petersburg, IL; born January 25, 1930 to the late Joel and Margaret (Ridder) Knous died, Monday, April 5, 2021, at Villas East, Sherman, Illinois.
In his long healthy life Albert was known to five children as “Dad”: Jan (husband Cliff) Baxter, Micah Garner (wife Diane Garner Maloney), Norm (wife Judy) Knous, Jeanne Knous, Jatara Nicole Knous. Micah preceded him in death.
He was known as “grandpa” to: Joseph Garner, Kyle (wife Jessica) Knous, Lucas Knous, Rodney Garner, Matthew (wife Taylor) Knous, Marci McGraw, Chantel Knous, Tevell Sr.; great grandchildren: Wesley, Wyatt, Kaylee, Owen and Tevell Jr. Grandpa Albert was very excited about having a great granddaughter due in July.
Albert was known as “Uncle Albert” to many nieces and nephews located throughout the United States and loved by many cousins.
Ada, his bride of over forty years preceded him in death in 1998 as well as three brothers: Carl, Glenn, Francis (Bud) Knous and three sisters: Martha Borah, Ethel Hedger and Dorothy Clark. June Sherry, his companion following the death of his wife also preceded him in death in 2016.
With a high school education, Albert went to the US Navy serving as a Seabee electrician during the Korean War. He became a member of the VFW, AMVETS and American Legion.
Albert’s profession as a contractor alway found him helping family and friends with many many building projects; mentoring his family as he happily worked through all the projects.
When Albert wasn’t working he enjoyed visiting with friends and family, dining out, traveling, doing crossword puzzles, playing solitaire on his computer and playing cards with his Saturday Night Group that included Bev, Carol, Sandy and Linda.
The family cannot thank the Villas West and Villas East enough for their tender care of Albert!
Graveside services will be held at Indian Point Cemetery, Illinois 29/Athens, IL according to CDC COVID guidelines on Saturday, April 17, 2021 at 10:00 AM. If weather does not permit graveside services, a memorial service will be held at Mott & Henning Funeral Home at 10:00 AM.
