Adolph J. Gazza, Jr., age 81, of Sherman, passed away on Friday, April 15, 2016 at St. John’s Hospice.
Adolph is survived by sister, Marie Gazza-Viola; two nephews and one niece; two great nephews; one great niece and several cousins.
He is preceded in death by both parents and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Adolph was born on January 2, 1935 in Sherman, IL the son of Adolph Sr. and Helen Gazza.
Adolph had a love for training and raising horses. He enjoyed bowling and attending Williamsville High School basketball games as well. He belonged to the American Quarter Horse Association for about 50 years. Adolph was also a member of St. John’s Catholic Church.
He joined the Air Force in 1954 and later was discharged in 1960. After his work in the military, he worked for Stetson China in Lincoln, IL. He later purchased the “Joe Gazza’s Tavern” in Sherman, IL where he later sold. After selling the tavern, Adolph then had more time to spend taking care of his horses.
As Adolph wishes are to be followed, he requested no visitation or no services of any kind.
Burial will be held at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield, IL.

Adolph, in his quiet grace and presence was truly a great man and friend. We’ll never forget the hours he spent sharing stories about horses and the railroad. We loved him and will miss him dearly.
