Adelia Ann “Dee” Willis, age 90, of Petersburg, passed away on Wednesday, October 25, 2023 at Sunny Acres Nursing Home in Petersburg.

She was born August 19, 1933 in Petersburg, Illinois the daughter of Wallace and Katherine Tibbs Ramsay.

Adelia married Robert “Bob” Willis on July 11, 1950 at the St. Patrick’s Church in Springfield.  They were blessed with 61 years of marriage.

Mourning her passing are her children, Bobbi Kay (Rick) Ware, Lynn (Kenneth) Deverman, David (Bonnie) Willis, Larry (Kim) Willis, and Kelley (Susan) Willis; grandchildren, Matt Grimm, Angie (Karen) Grimm, Brian (Kristin) Deverman, Daren Deverman (Christmas Ramir), Lindsey (William) Bradley, Bradley Willis (LeeAnn Schilling), Tyler (Maralee) Willis, Justin (Carrie) Willis, and Denver (Marlena) Willis, twenty great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Willis on October 21, 2011; brothers, Eugene, Richard, and Walter Ramsay; sister, Kathleen Woollen Esslenger; and her parents, Wallace and Katherine Ramsay.

Adelia enjoyed many wonderful years of farm life with her husband, Bob.  Dee prided herself in being a good homemaker and cook.  She enjoyed finding and trying out new recipes.  Dinner was never without a delicious dessert – being her specialty.  Family was the center of her world, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom she loved dearly.

For the past 11 years Adelia made her home at Countryside Estates in Petersburg, Illinois.  She loved all the staff and was grateful for their selfless acts of kindness.  The camaraderie and socializing amongst the tenants made Countryside a great place for her to live.

Adelia was a devout Catholic, and member of Holy Family Church in Athens, Illinois.

In keeping her wishes, private graveside service will be held at Elmwood Cemetery in Greenview, Illinois with Father Maurice Yonta from Holy Family Church officiating.

Memorials can be made to the Menard County EMS, 19072 State Highway 123, Petersburg, Illinois 62675, or Holy Family Parish, 711 S. 6th Stret, Petersburg, IL 62675.

  6. Sending deepest sympathies, thoughts and prayers to all of Dee’s family. She was a wonderful person whom I was honored to know. She embraced me the moment I joined the Countryside Family. She gave me plenty of tips and suggestions as I was adjusting to the change of careers, she always complimented me and helped me become confident. I will always remember her for that and will miss our little pranks we would play on each other!
